Cielos Airlines is a privately held international airline, which was founded in 1997, as a non-scheduled international cargo carrier.

As the company grew, so did its operating philosophy. The company shifted its fleet strategy from owning and operating an older Boeing 707 and wet-leasing an MD-11 to dry leasing a DC10-30F.

Cielos' experience with the DC 10-30F aircraft has demonstrated the company's ability to operate wide-body aircraft profitably.
